Article history: Received on: 03/02/2013 Revised on: 20/02/2013 Accepted on: 05/03/2013 Available online: 30/03/2013 An efficient and rapid synthesis of novel anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial agents using 4-aminoantipyrine, nicotinic acid, ethylisocyanoacetate and substituted aldehydes via Ugi four component reaction (Ugi-4CR) protocol under microwave irradiation in presence of Fluorite as an efficient catalyst. The microwave synthesis route afforded better yields with shorter reaction time. The novel heterocycles were characterized on the basis of IR, H NMR and Mass spectral analysis. All the synthesized molecules 5 (a-h) were examined for their potential in-vivo Anti-inflammatory activity on Wistar Albino rats using a standard reference drug, Indometacin. The synthesized compounds were also screened for their potent in-vitro Antimicrobial activity using few Grampositive and Gram-negative bacteria against a reference antibiotic, Ampicillin and Streptomycin.

Synthesis of Novel Fluorene Bisamide Derivatives via Ugi Reaction and Evaluation their Biological Activity against Mycobacterium species

A series of new fluorene bisamide derivatives were synthesized through multi-component Ugi reaction and tested for their in vitro anti-mycobacterial activity. The structures of the products 5a-w were deduced from their IR, 1H NMR, and 13C NMR spectra. Elemental analyses (CHN) for novel compounds (5a, 5d, 5f, 5h, 5k, 5l, 5p, 5s, 5t, 5v, 5w) was done to. These compounds were evaluated as anti-bac...

Synthesis and Biological Evaluation of Novel Quinoline Derivatives as Antibacterial and Antifungal Agents

Vilsmeier Several diamide derivatives containing 2-chloroquinoline scaffolds were synthesized via Ugi reaction of 2-chloroquinoline-3-carboxaldehydes, amines, carboxylic acids and isocyanides. The diversity of these quinolinyl Ugi-adducts was increased by using 2-chloroquinoline-3-carboxylic acids as a source of acid. Among them, compounds 2d, 2n, 2p, 4a, 4c and<strong...

A Novel Strategy of Ugi-4CR/Huisgen 1,3-Dipolar Synthesis of 1H-1,2,3-Triazole-Modified Peptidoimetics

In this protocol, we report a novel approach for the synthesis of a new class of heterocyclic 1H-1,2,3-triazole-modified peptidomimetic compounds. The process consists of an Ugi four-component condensation reaction of amines, an isocyanide, an aldehyde and acids followed by a Huisgen 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction with an azide group in the presence of a catalytic amount of CuSO4</...

Synthesis of antibacterial 1,3-diyne-linked peptoids from an Ugi-4CR/Glaser coupling approach

A library of ten 1,3-diyne-linked peptoids has been synthesized through an Ugi four-component reaction (U-4CR) followed by a copper-catalysed alkyne homocoupling (Glaser reaction). The short and chemoselective reaction sequence allows generating diverse (pseudo) dimeric peptoids. A combinatorial version allows the one-pot preparation of, e.g., six-compound-libraries of homo- and heterodimers ve...
